Number of Hospital Beds in India and China
According to a WHO report, India needs to add 80,000 hospital beds each year for the next five years to meet the demands of its growing population. High quality talent pool, proven track record, favourable government policies, ability to deliver healthcare services at low cost and high quality infrastructure has put India on the global map for outsourcing various healthcare related services.
After a half century of effort, especially with the reform and opening policy, China has made tremendous progress in public health. Health departments at all levels have strengthened rural hygiene and health care programs and encouraged development of traditional Chinese medicine. There has been a steady increase in the number of health workers and their professional abilities have continually improved. The number of hospital beds has kept rising but the growth rate is on the decline.
